There’s been plenty of talk about “pivoting” in the business world as lockdowns affected normal trading. As a quick and temporary solution to an unexpected problem, a pivot works well to sustain sales and spending, but a long term solution to staying flexible and resilient is what many operators are looking for now.

Out of sight, out of mind. How do you win back lost customers that haven’t paid you a visit for a while? It’s well known that&nbsp;retaining an existing customer is much cheaper than acquiring a new one.&nbsp;So, it’s worth sending a little reminder from your side to win those customers back.

Your goal is to re-engage with those lost customers and make them aware that they’re missing out by not coming by for some time.



This is especially valuable for customers who used to come by on a regular basis and seemed to have changed habit. But it’s also very effective at enticing one-time customers back.



Let’s take our <a href="https://stampede.ai/blog/a-5-step-recipe-that-creates-profitable-personalised-marketing-part-1/">5 step recipe</a> to set up a&nbsp;simple campaign to win back your customers.



1) The Data



For this scenario, you’ll need to access your&nbsp;time-stamped visitor data, which can be obtained from various sources:



<ul><li>Last WiFi login from captive portal / guest WiFi</li><li>Last booking date from booking system</li><li>Last stamp / interaction from loyalty scheme</li><li>Last purchase from eCommerce system</li></ul>

Highlighting what makes you stand out might not be enough though. The easiest way is to further entice them by including an offer or promotion.



Make sure your&nbsp;offers are relevant and timely. Send drink or dinner offers out before the weekend, e.g. Friday midday. Whereas your ‘coffee for free’ should be in your customer’s inboxes the night before.&nbsp;

New Feature Alert – Gift Cards

Apple ID is now available as a login method to <a href="https://stampede.ai/how-it-works/wifi/">Stampede Guest WiFi</a>. This latest addition to our captive portal further enhances the user experience for Apple device users.&nbsp;



The one-time login process with Apple ID is faster than typing (faster than we can type anyway). It comes with all the expected security features that go hand in hand with Apple ID. A user can login using Apple ID and remain anonymous to the network owner with just the settings in their profile. Additionally, if the user wants to receive updates and offers from the venue, they can enable this while still keeping their information private.



These new login features are exclusive to the Stampede Guest WiFi solution and are the first of their kind to be used this way.



There are also benefits to the businesses using our Guest WiFi who choose to enable Apple ID login. The number of customers using the Guest WiFi will increase with a faster, easier and trusted login. More customers using their Guest WiFi grows their database. This results in more people to contact via email and more reliable analytics data. The familiar “Sign in with Apple” button will be a welcome sight to many consumers, and following this facial recognition or biometrics &#8211; like fingerprint &#8211; can log you in.



This new login process for our captive portal solution adds to the current options of <a href="https://stampede.ai/blog/the-ultimate-beginners-guide-to-wifi-jargon/">social WiFi</a> (logging in using a social network profile such as Facebook) and more traditional data capture fields (such as email address and phone number)



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Setting Up Apple ID Login</h2>



To enable Sign in with Apple on your Stampede Guest WiFi, head to “Login Design” in left-hand navigation. Under the “Capture” tab you will find the slider button to activate Apple ID login at your venue(s). The button will only show to users attempting to connect on an Apple device.



Not sure how many people use Apple devices in your venue right now? Head over to “<a href="https://product.stampede.ai/analytics/devices">Analytics</a>” then to the “<a href="https://product.stampede.ai/analytics/devices">Devices</a>” section. Here you will be able to see a breakdown of venue visitors based on device, operating system and browser. By exploring “Devices” for Apple products or “Operating Systems” for iOS or OSX you’ll be able to understand the volumes of customers likely to use Apple ID login.

<h2>But what&#8217;s the purpose of World WiFi day?</h2>
World Wi-Fi Day is taking place today, on the 20th of June, and it aims to recognise the importance WiFi has on the modern world, and to “<a href="http://worldwifiday.com/about-us/what-is-world-wi-fi-day/">help bridge the digital divide</a>”. WiFi is playing a very significant role in cities and communities around the world, trying to ‘connect the unconnected’  through innovative projects and diverse initiatives.

The Doner Kebab chain, owned by &#8220;The German Doner Kebabs&#8221;, has now chosen to power guest WiFi to their customers across the globe through Stampede.
 German Doner Kebabs is a fast food retailer that has created a healthy and nutritionally balanced approach to traditional kebabs and was described by <a href="http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/german-doner-kebab">Time Out London</a> as, “kebabs without the guilt”, they opened their first store in Berlin in 1989 and now have over 60 stores worldwide.

The service begins to act the moment a user connects to the free Wi-Fi network. Internet access is received after they log in with a social media account or by entering the info asked. It provides an opportunity to get to know the customers, thanks to information such as name, gender and language, which can then be used in order to send promotions, vouchers or messages to particular target groups, consisting of people who have per 
sonally visited the venue. The customers can then be directed to a Facebook-integrated welcome page, which allows them to add to the 920,000 current <a href="https://www.facebook.com/DonerKebabME">Facebook</a> page likes.
This kind of interaction allows the growth of theinternet fan base, which is especially useful in new venues, as the chain is aiming to add an additional 10 stores, in countries such as Canada, Russia, India and Bahrain.

Nice write up in today&#8217;s Scotsman on Stampede, founder <a href="https://twitter.com/patrickclover">Patrick Clover</a> and the ambitious (yet still very realistic) plans for Stampede in the upcoming months.

Some highlights:
Stampede has recently taken equity funding, allowing it to grow from a team of four to nine, and this is soon set to increase to 16. Having launched in Edinburgh in April this year, after the firm started in 2015, it is now in 15 countries, with 487 locations in the UK and 505 globally including Vietnam, Brazil and Saudi Arabia. Deals came with the likes of Edinburgh tech incubator <a href="http://www.thisiscodebase.com">CodeBase</a> and <a href="http://www.livenationentertainment.com">Live Nation Entertainment</a> whose brands include Ticketmaster, and working with the entertainment giant to roll out its product across all its festivals.
